Pregnancy Reflexology
Reflexology is a safe, enjoyable relaxing therapy that you can benefit from at all stages of pregnancy from Day 1 right through to the post-natal period. It can help to support the many changes that your body and emotional being go through during those precious 9 months and beyond and a recent study also showed evidence that regular treatments could even help to reduce labour times by up to 45 minutes!

How can reflexology support you during pregnancy?
Reflexology is a holistic therapy which aims to treat and balance the whole of the body but during your treatments we can also focus on particular areas of concern including:
- Nausea and sickness
- Fatigue
- Headaches
- Stress and emotional changes
- Anxiety
- Relaxation
- Insomnia
- Oedema (swollen ankles/feet/hands)
- Back and other musculoskeletal pain
- Indigestion, heartburn and other digestive issues
- Skin conditions due to pregnancy
- Preparing your body for labour
Regular treatments throughout pregnancy will give optimal support, however, even occasional or one-off treatments will have a beneficial effect and give instant relaxation.
Reflexology is generally a safe therapy during pregnancy, with very few contraindications, even during pregnancy, but as with most other complementary therapies, if you have a high risk pregnancy or any concerns, you should ask your GP/midwife for consent before undergoing treatment and always let your therapist know of any symptoms or relevant medical history prior to your treatment.
Post-natal reflexology
Once your baby arrives it is easy to forget about your own well-being, but it is important to remember that all those changes you went through during the 9 months of pregnancy are once again changing. Physical, physiological and emotional changes will all be taking place and it is important that you take a little time focusing on your health so that you can provide the support that your baby requires.
Additional stresses such as recovery from a difficult labour, birth with intervention or caesarean delivery and even breastfeeding can all have an effect on your mental and physical health and babies can pick up on these emotions too. Reflexology may be able to assist with helping to support you during this time As well as giving you some much-needed time to yourself, treatments can also focus on balancing your endocrine system (which control your hormones), stimulate the lymphatic system to help heal your body and improve your immune system, in addition to promoting a sense of calmness and well-being.
I also offer mum and baby treatments – a beautiful bonding experience for you and your baby and can give advice on reflex points that you can use at home to deal with issues such as colic and digestion.
